International markets – international sales

Developing new markets is difficult and risky especially for medium-sized enterprises. Usually, these companies only have limited recourses in terms of financial and personnel capacities.

The foreign trade consultancy of the chamber of skilled crafts and trade offers a wide range of activities to support its member companies when entering foreign markets: We provide general information on foreign markets and help German companies to establish contacts with foreign business partners and customers. Moreover we advise how to deal with customs formalities and labour law regulations abroad.

Seminars, conferences, round table talks and language courses complete our service range.

Sales administration in foreign markets

Despite a free movement of goods and services within the European Union, an exporter still has to respect certain legal regulations and formalities. During the tender process, the exporter should already include foreign registration and license fees in the offer. We offer valuable information about payment arrangements, customs regulations and the delivery of goods. When offering services abroad, we inform about the Posting of Workers Directive, reporting duties and other country-specific aspects.

Participating in foreign trade fairs

Trade fairs are still an ideal instrument to establish new contacts and to present own products and services to a new audience. But trade fairs are also time-consuming, expensive and personnel-intensive. Medium-sized enterprises often hesitate to participate in trade fairs. However, these events facilitate the socialising process and make it easier to observe competitors.

The Federal State Government of Rheinland-Pfalz financially supports German companies when presenting their products or services on a trade fair. There also exist other financial promotion programmes on a regional or national level. We help our member companies to choose the “right” trade fair abroad and support the planning, implementation and follow-up process of a trade fair participation in Germany or abroad.

Programme „We open markets 2012“

The Federal Ministry of Economics in Rheinland-Pfalz and the chambers support its member companies abroad by organising business trips and trade fair participations. Every year, new activities are presented through the programme „We open markets“. In 2012, the partners offer nine trade fairs, ten business trips and five symposia in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Here you can download the programme „We open markets 2012” (in German language).
